A key strategy behind the Paw Print newsletter for the inaugural Kane County Cougars was to introduce the individuals behind the numbers, allowing patrons to relate to the young prospects. This bond with the community helped enable the club to grow beyond the shadow of Chicago's two Major League teams.
It was an honor to assist National Anthem soloist Wayne Messmer with his memoir, 'The Voice of Victory,' in which he described his journey of forgiveness after being shot in the throat during a robbery attempt.
Messmer wanted the cover to capture the victorious final notes as he and his wife shared the trademark song in public again for the first time.
